Mariia Maha is a seasoned Sustainability and Supply Chain Consultant, offering a wealth of experience from international supply chain operations across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. She brings extensive expertise from her leadership roles in commercial operations within the international timber and chemical sectors, notably as a commercial executive for the second-largest charcoal and solvents production facility in Europe. There, Mariia skillfully implemented innovative sustainability measures into sales and sourcing strategies, emerging as an ambassador for ESG reporting and GHG accounting.

As the CEO of Association NVFCS, the sole authorized body of the world’s largest forest management certification, PEFC (known as Sustainable Forest Initiative in the USA), Mariia demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision. She designed the system from its inception and steered the creation of all frameworks, standards, and procedures based on ISO, IAF, and FAO principles. Her crafted system garnered widespread endorsement from government entities, NGOs, businesses, academics, worker unions, and women and children’s stakeholders, a testament to her prowess in stakeholder engagement.

Recognized for her expertise, Mariia serves as a member of the PEFC International Pool of Experts, a role that validates her credentials as a trainer for sustainable supply chain development within the timber industry.

Mariia holds a Master of Science (MS) in Forestry Management from the Ukrainian National Forestry University, and a Master of Science (MS) in Logistics from Lviv Polytechnic National University, both in Lviv, Ukraine. She also earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Management of Organization from Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Further enhancing her versatile skillset, Mariia completed a certification in Scaled Agile project management in 2023 from Scaled Agile, Inc. This training has equipped her with the competencies of a SCRUM Master and DevOps specialist, enabling her to manage complex, agile projects effectively. Her multi-faceted background in supply chain management, sustainability, and agile methodologies uniquely positions Mariia to deliver insightful, innovative solutions for clients in the realm of sustainable procurement and supply chains.

Mariia holds a certification in Impact Measurement & Management for Sustainable Development Goals from Duke University, which was developed in collaboration with UNDP to enhance decision-making for SDG impact. This program, based on the UNDP SDG Impact Standards, focuses on the strategic, managerial, transparency, and governance changes that enterprises and investors can implement to contribute effectively to the SDGs.

In 2024, Mariia successfully obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in the Basics of Organizational GHG Accounting from the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute, ensuring she is up to date with the latest GHG Accounting requirements.
